Harvansh P Chawla, has successfully completed his schooling with honours from St Xavier’s School, continued his higher studies at St Stephens College, New Delhi, to pursue Bachelor of Arts. His interest in theatre drew him to represent various committees and sub-committees such as Shakespeare Society, Photography Society and Debate Society. He achieved highest marks in his batch in the discipline of Philosophy and Political Science.
Inspired by his father’s integrity in Law, he opted for Delhi Law Faculty, where he successfully completed in honours and was also responsible for forming a Moot Court Association which was funded and regulated by the Delhi Law Faculty.
Pursuing the program of Masters in International Laws from Georgetown University (Law Center), U.S.A., on completion opted to come back to India to provide specialised legal services. As the Managing Partner of prestigious and well known Law firm namely “K. R. CHAWLA & CO.” which handles legal work of many clients like Northrop Grumman, Fluor Daniel, Singapore Airlines, Associate Financial Services, Dentsply, Alcatel, Denso Corporation, Japan, FLAG Telecom and so on. He is also appointed as an Advisor to the Trade and Invest British Columbia in India which is collaboration with the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology, British Columbia, Canada.
Notably, Ministry of Finance, Government of India selected him to prepare the Counter Guarantees for all infrastructure projects in India, whereas as one of the first lawyers in India did detailed legal work on the privatization of ports in India. He was one of the select attorneys chosen by ABN-AMRO Bank, for takeover transaction of retail business of Bank of America, which was first of its kind in India. He advises various clients on India Investment Structuring, SEBI Issues and Euro Issues such as listing of ADRs/ GDRs/ FCCBs.
Mr. Chawla is a member of International Bar Association, Inter Pacific Bar Association, and Indo-US Business Council.
He actively peruses social causes and has adopted a society, which caters to the requirements of the Aged disowned by their families. Mr. Chawla is also responsible for starting a diploma in Laws in St. Stephens College and had been bestowed the title of “Honorary Director”. He is also associated with “Agnel Charities”.
